Kohima, March 11 (EMN): President of the National Cooperative Union of India (NCUI), Dileep Sanghani, on Thursday stated that formulating new cooperative societies policy in the country is in the process.
Sanghani, who is currently on a two-day visit to Nagaland, said this at his reception programme held in Kohima on Thursday. He was accompanied by the officials of NCUI to take stock of the cooperative movement in Nagaland.
He laid emphasised on the need to create environment to enable cooperatives grow all over the country and urged for promotion of market linkages and capacity building.
Nagaland minister of Agriculture and Cooperation, G Kaito Aye, said that the cooperation department in the state is insisting on the principle of “One village one cooperative societies" and appealed to the president to strengthen cooperative movement in the state.
Nagaland, being a state rich in natural resources, Aye stated that cooperative movement has a bright future prospect in Nagaland.
The NCUI officials visited World War II Cemetery and toured Khonoma and Mezoma villages and left for Dimapur.
