The launch of new Amrit Bharat Express trains via Dimapur is set to enhance long-distance rail connectivity linking Nagaland with multiple Indian states.

DIMAPUR — During Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s visit to Kaliabor in Assam’s Nagaon district, two new Amrit Bharat Express trains—Dibrugarh-Gomti Nagar, Lucknow; and Kamakhya (Guwahati)-Rohtak—were launched.
In connection with the launch, a formal flagging-off programme was held at Dimapur Railway Station on Sunday. The event was attended by Deputy Commissioner of Dimapur, Tinojongshi Chang, social worker Kamal Jain, Dimapur Municipal Council councillor V Khekato Awomi, railway officials, and others.

The Dibrugarh–Gomti Nagar Amrit Bharat Express will connect multiple states, including Nagaland, Assam, West Bengal, Bihar, and Uttar Pradesh.
The train will pass through key locations such as Dimapur, Dibrugarh, Sivasagar, Jorhat, Golaghat, Kamrup Metropolitan, Alipurduar, Kishanganj, Katihar, Bhagalpur, Gorakhpur, Ayodhya, and Lucknow, significantly enhancing long-distance rail connectivity for the region.
Addressing the gathering, Chang said that the new train service would greatly benefit Dimapur, pointing out that railways remain one of the safest and most affordable modes of transportation.
He added that improved connectivity plays a vital role in development.
The DC encouraged the public to make maximum use of the service, stating that better transportation would contribute to unity and overall development of Dimapur district and Nagaland as a whole.
Chang also highlighted that Dimapur is among the oldest railway stations in the Northeast and expressed gratitude to the prime minister for introducing the new service through the district.
He further informed that plans are underway to develop Dimapur Railway Station into a world-class facility and sought public cooperation to realise this vision for future generations.
Speaking on the occasion, social worker Kamal Jain said that the launch of the new Amrit Bharat Express services marked another step towards fulfilling Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s vision of improved connectivity for the Northeast.
He shared that many people from Uttar Pradesh, Bihar, and Jharkhand live and work in the region, and the new train would offer them easier and more affordable travel to their home states.
