In a bid to foster unity, understanding and rapport among the North-Eastern students studying in Jalandhar, North-East Students’Organization (NESO) once again successfully organized the 3rd Annual Sports Meet, which concluded here on Sunday.
Like every year, the event witnessed an active participation from all the 8 states.
The closing ceremony was attended by Honourable Judge of Punjab and Haryana High Court, Chandigarh Justice S.P. Bangarh(Retd.) as the chief guest, Founder-President of Karamyogi Charitable Society. Karamyogi Jaswant Singh and, Chairman of Shangri-La Bank of Nepal Biswash Gauchan as guests of honour.
Addressing the gathering Justice Bangarh congratulated the executives of NESO for giving him the pleasure to experience such a wonderful event. He was mesmerized of the rich and diverse cultures that come together under a single roof. “Although we have heard about the culture and tradition of the North-East but we haven’t experience anything like this before”, Justice Bangarh said.He also urged the students not only to excel in sports, but also to concentrate on their academics as well.
In this stiff competition, Mizoram won the overall champion. The best athlete awards went to BhakarNingombam from Manipur for boys and Lalkroschuangi from Mizoram for girls.
