Experienced North East Re-Organisation Cultural Association (Neroca) Football Club which is representing Manipur in the Second Division I-League lifted champion trophy of the 59th Sir Churachand Singh KCSI, CBE Memorial Football Tournament 2015 popularly known as CC Meet here on Wednesday.
In the final match played in front of 15,000 strong crowds at Khuman Lampak Main Stadium here, Neroca FC defeated four times CC Meet title holder Imphal based Southern Sporting Union (SSU), Singjamei by a margin of 3-1 goals.
Barely 2 minutes after the beginning of the final match, Md Shidhur Rehman scored the first goal for SSU taking the lead over Neroca FC. Without delay, Kh Satish Singh of Neroca FC sent in the equalizer in the 20 minute of the competitive match.
Many attempts were made from both ends to take the lead during the first half but both the teams couldn’t make it. However in the last minute of the first half, Neroca’s Nigerian footballer O Emeka Christian scored their second goal. After certain claims and counter claims over foul play by both the team players, Imran Khan of Neroca FC netted the final and winning goal in the 82nd minute. Thus the winning team Neroca FC went home richer with a cash prize of Rs 5 lakhs along with the running trophy while runner-up team SSU was awarded a cash prize of Rs 2 lakhs and running trophy. The footballer of the year(men) title goes to Neroca FC striker Imran Khan while the footballer of the year(women) title to Ng Bala Devi of Manipur Police sports club.Both Imran and Bala got a cash award of Rs 10,000 each. Best goal keeper’s trophy with cash prize of Rs 5000 was handed over to SSU’s keeper S Dinakumar while top scorer’s cash award(Rs 5000) goes to SSU’s L Gogocha.
