
DIMAPUR — The North East Institute of Social Sciences and Research (NEISSR), in collaboration with the department of Skill, Employment and Entrepreneurship, held a career guidance session on Tuesday at its premises in Chümoukedima.
An initiative of the Nagaland government to raise awareness about national apprenticeship, the session began with a welcome note by Mercy, MSW (Master of Social Work) fourth semester, followed by an opening remark by Dr. Fr. C P Anto, principal of NEISSR, on the importance of career guidance, according to a press release.
Imtisenla Jamir highlighted the importance of apprenticeships in advancing skill development and employment prospects in Nagaland. She underscored the primary objectives outlined in the Apprenticeship Act of 1961 and the Apprenticeship Rules of 1992.
Jamir discussed career prospects and decision-making abilities, elucidating the benefits of apprenticeships such as industry-oriented training, earning while learning, and obtaining globally recognised certification. Additionally, she provided insights into the procedures for registration.
A total of 200 students participated in the career guidance programme, culminating in an interactive session.
