DIMAPUR — The North East Institute of Social Sciences and Research (NEISSR) observed World Social Work Day on Tuesday in Chümoukedima on the global theme, “Co-building hope and harmony: Harambee – uniting a divided world".
In his keynote address, Dr. CP Anto, Principal of NEISSR, stressed the importance of peacebuilding in today’s fractured world. Quoting Albert Einstein, he remarked, “Peace cannot be kept by force; it can only be achieved by understanding.”

He urged the gathering to reflect deeply on the ongoing humanitarian crises across the globe, particularly in the Middle East, where prolonged conflict has resulted in immense human suffering, displacement, and loss of life, stated a press release.
Drawing inspiration from the principles of Harambee (Swahili for "all pull together") and Ubuntu ("I am because we are"), the programme reinforced the interconnectedness of humanity and the shared responsibility to foster peace and social harmony.
During the programme, a documentary presentation on the life of Mother Teresa, patroness of NEISSR, was presented by Poangnyu, a fourth-semester MSW student. The observance concluded with a peace walk.
