
Dimapur, March 16 (EMN): In an effort to respond to the extraordinary situation evolving around the novel coronavirus (Covid-19) across the world and vulnerability of the people in the state, the North East Institute of Social Sciences and Research (NEISSR) declared “Covid-19 Safety Mission” in the institute on March 16 till the situation returns to normalcy.
This was informed by the institute through a press release on Monday.
Speaking on the occasion, principal of NEISSR Fr. Dr. CP Anto exhorted the MSW students on protection and preventive mission against the virus as a social work. He encouraged the students to adopt new life-skills and practices endorsed by the UN/WHO and National Health Authority – “protect self first and help others”.
Marking the start of the mission, the principal distributed medical mask to all the students and the faculty members to protect themselves first and help others prevent from catching the virus. He also told the students and staff to be prepared to act when needed as professional social workers.
“We need to extend our hands to protect and prevent it as our mission,” he said.
An orientation and training on personal safety practices and measures was also conducted.
