
"As my tenure has come to an end, I submitted letter of resignation as chief minister of Nagaland", he stated.
The NDPP leader is expected to assume the chair of the chief minister for which the formalities are still awaited.
He is the longest serving chief minister of Nagaland and will assume the office for a record fifth term.
The ruling NDPP-BJP coalition had won 37 out of 60 seats contested in state assembly election, results of which were declared on Friday.

NDPP won 25 out of 40 seats, which is an increase of seven compared to the 2018 election, while BJP won 12 out of the 20 contested seats.
The next Nagaland government is mandated to be in place before the present Nagaland Assembly term ends on March 12. Kohima, March 4 (EMN)
