Neiketsilie is ASA junior wrestling champion

Neikotsilie Krose of Chakhroma Sports Association (CSA) defeated Vilhousielie Kehie of Western Angami Youth Organisation (WAYO) to lift the championship title of under-16 wrestling competition at Khuochiezie local ground in Kohima on Thursday evening.

The competition was part of the 48th Angami Sports Association (ASA) Wrestling Meet which commenced with senior wrestling competition on Wednesday.

Krose, (5.6 feet tall and weighs 62 kg) took down Kehie (5.7 feet tall and weighs 55 kg) twice in the final bout to take home cash prize of INR 25,000 while the runner-up received INR 20,000.

Kekhrievor Sekhose (Nasa) was declared second runner-up after his opponent Pezanei-u Pielie (Nasa) was forced to quit after receiving an injury during his bout with Krose in the second semi-final match. Sekhose received INR 15,000 while Pielie took home INR 10,000 for finishing in the fourth position.

Four losing quarterfinalists too were awarded INR 2,000 each. Altogether, 40 wrestlers representing Nasa, Southern Angami Sports Association (Sasa), WAYO and CSA competed in the junior division category.

The former chief engineer of PHED Kevisekho Kruse, who was the guest of honour, handed over the prizes to the winners.
