
The two-day 4th Edition of Northeast India Fashion Week (NEIFW) which was held at Hotel Acacia in Dimapur concluded on Sat. April 27. The NEIFW was based on the theme “The Khadi Movement”. This was updated by the organiser's in a press note.
The fashion week saw ten designers and eight weavers from Nagaland showcased their collection. The Nagaland edition was conducted under chief operating officer Gloria Ovung and Model Coordinator Menty Jamir.
The designers who participated in this edition were- Suliya (Nagaland), Mansha Aomeshu & Viphreseno Chusi (Kohima), Labakorcy War (Shillong), Gollo Menia & Aina Siram (Arunachal Pradesh), Angie Ngoba Chakpu (Arunachal Pradesh), Sangpi Terangpi ( Diphu, Karbi Anglong), Benwangliu (Dimapur, Nagaland), Ressha Camdir Tok ( Arunachal Pradesh), Toli Assumi & Chinelo (Nagaland & Nigeria), Sentisangla (Nagaland), Menty & Gloria launched 'Glitz Edge' ( Guwahati, Assam).
The eight weavers were- Lotha weaver Zubeni Kikon; Chakhesang weaver Kukhrungolu; Sangtam weaver Muzisela & Atsala Anar; Ao weaver Wapangienla Jamir; Sumi weaver Khutoli Sumi; Konyak weaver Neikhao Konyak; Zeliang weaver Aliuringliu, and Tripura weavers and Boro weavers.
The Make-up and hair was done by Johnny D’Ascoli while the NEIFW was entertained by Singer Tuden Longkumer and Chanbeni.
NEIFW “The Khadi Movement” was an initiative by Yana in Style-the magical touch of northeast India (You are not alone) a non-profit organization of the Northeastern region. The fashion week was an effort to embolden Northeast weavers, craftsmen and thus the markets.
