Dimapur, March 7 (EMN): The Nehru Yuva Kendra (NYK) of Kohima conducted district youth convention on March 7 at SABT hall in Kohima, with extra assistant commissioner, Kohima Rosy Sangtam as the chief guest. The organisers updated about the event on Wed.
The convention was said to have conducted with objective of promoting purposeful interaction among the youth on social issues, to sensitizing them to find solution of critical socio-economic and national development issues with special reference to role of youths, and to provide an opportunity to youth for reparation of future road map of their involvement in nation building activities.
The chief guest in her inaugural speech stressed on how one can be successful in life. She elaborated the four aspects — time management, use of technology, and hard work.
Saying that time management is a key factor for one’s personality formation, she advised the youth to use time wisely to be successful in life.
She also encouraged use of technology with a purpose and for the benefit and not to misuse.
On hard work, she said ‘there is no substitute to hard work- success is only 1% inspiration and 99% perspiration,’ and added that hard work will never fail.
The chief guest further stressed on the importance of morality.
NYK Director Jackie Ruivah expressed gratitude to youth clubs affiliated with NYK for their effort in achieving the target set target each year.
NYK stands for youth empowerment and called on the youth to be effective stakeholders in discharging the responsibilities to build a better nation, she said.
DYC, NYK John Makhabo highlighted the aim and objectives of NYK in channelizing and harnessing youth potentials towards nation building activities. He said youth clubs are stakeholders to development. Government alone cannot bring about development it needs active participation and support of youth, he added.
