Chief Minister Neiphiu Rio on Wednesday said it was necessary to join hands with the Central government in order to insure development in the state.
Rio was speaking at the kickoff campaign held for Imnatiba, NDPP candidate, 22 Arkakong constituency, on Wednesday at Changtongya Town local ground.
Rio, who was present as the chief campaigner, appealed to the gathering to once again elect Imnatiba for the people’s welfare that he may partake in the Naga political issue as part of the ruling government.
Minister of Rural development, Metsubo Jamir said seniority was important in a political party, and if elected for the second time, Imnatiba would be given a good position in the ruling party.
Jonathan Rongsen Longkumer, captain of the Nagaland senior cricket team, who was present at the programme, said that there was a need for a visionary leader such as Imnatiba. Under the NDPP candidate’s leadership, Longkumer said he was positive youths would have a bright future, an update stated.
Imnatiba, in his speech, said it was the right time to be elected for a second term as MLA under the leadership of Rio. He urged the people to come together and work hard to ensure victory.
The programme was chaired by Joint Secretary CEB, NDPP, O Wati Jamir.
Alienba, President of the NDPP 22 Arkakong constituency, gave the welcome address. Short speeches were delivered by Metsubo Jamir, Aolepden, Vice President, CEB NDPP, N Bendang Jamir, President NDPP, Mokokchung region, and Jonathan Rongsen Longkumer, current captain of the Nagaland senior cricket team. The programme concluded with a benediction by Chuba Aier, Pastor, Yaongyimsen Baptist Church.
