Dimapur, Dec. 21: Advisor for Industries and Commerce, government of Nagaland Imnatiba said on Friday urged that entrepreneurs from North-east to understand the trade and work accordingly to succeed, citing that the region has lots of potential for industrialists to grow.
Speaking at the closing ceremony of the two-day summit held at Niathu Resort, Dimapur on Dec. 21, Imnatiba said the key to success for any entrepreneur is to “simply try.” It involves lot of contemplation, thinking, and quick decisions; one has to be decisive and action-oriented, he added.
Speaking about the event, Imnatiba said the experiences and inputs shared by the experts during the event would enrich the officials of the dept. of Industries and Commerce. He said the ideas and inputs would be incorporated into the department’s policies, which would be released soon.
Imnatiba said the event was an eye-opener for entrepreneurs who ‘keenly participated in the event,’ adding that it could lead to a new beginning for the growth of entrepreneurship in the state.
“There should be by-product from such event where so many good things were said,” he stated, adding that entrepreneurs should be pro-active and make something out of it. He expressed hope that the state would head forward with new leadership and fresh minds.
He said the policy makers in New Delhi came up with ‘Look East Policy’ a few years ago which was changed to a more action-oriented one called ‘Act East Policy,’ making Northeast the gateway to South East Asia.
Admitting that the Indian economy is dominated by China with around 700 Indian collaborative Chinese companies in India, Imnatiba said the government of India should connect North-east India with South East Asia and control their economy.
The advisor challenged the entrepreneurs present at the summit to strive for their dreams, stating that North-east region is backward but at par with other states in terms of potentiality and resources. He urged the entrepreneurs to research and understand the trade before carrying out their projects.
“What the government fails, the entrepreneurs can do,” he stated.
Earlier during the summit, Executive Director of United Nations Global Compact (UNGC), Kamal Singh, stated that North-east has the highest rural literacy rate in India and stressed on the need to expand integration and collaboration market in the region.
Admitting that North-east has immense potential for growth and sustainable development, he urged the entrepreneurs to ignite the power of entrepreneurship. He also stressed on the need for partnerships and collaborations saying that no state can progress without it.
Terming technology as a game changer, Singh stressed on the need to leverage it (technology).
The first North-east Summit 2018 themed “Developing Northeast through the power of entrepreneurship” was organised by the United Nations Global Compact (UNGC), along with the government of Nagaland and Investment and Development Authority of Nagaland (IDAN).
