- DIMAPUR — A total
of fourteen journalists from northeast India are currently on a three-day media
tour to Maha Kumbh 2025 in Prayagraj, Uttar Pradesh, organised by the Press
Information Bureau (PIB), in collaboration with the Government of Uttar
Pradesh, from January 21 to the 23rd.
- According to an update from PIB, the team reached Prayagraj
on January 21.
- Representing Arunachal Pradesh, Assam, Manipur, Meghalaya,
Nagaland, Sikkim, and Tripura, the delegation would have a unique opportunity to
report on one of the largest spiritual gatherings in the world, a PIB report
stated.
- The initiative aims to provide a platform for journalists
from print, electronic and digital media to capture and share the cultural and
spiritual essence of the Maha Kumbh Mela with audiences across the northeast
region and beyond.
- The delegation from northeast included representatives from
Arunachal Front, Asomiya Pratidin, Dainik Asom, DY365, Time8, Sangai Express,
The People’s Chronicle, U Peitngor, The Morung Express, Hornbill TV, Summit
Times, Swatantra Aawaj, Headlines Tripura and Satyabhashan,
- Scheduled from January 13 to February 26, 2025, it mentioned
that the Maha Kumbh is deeply rooted in mythology, tracing its origins to the
Samudra Manthan or the churning of the ocean, where drops of nectar were said
to have fallen at Prayagraj, Haridwar, Ujjain and Nashik.
- The sacred bath taken during this event symbolises soul
purification and spiritual enlightenment, it added.
- This year, the Maha Kumbh is expected to host over 45 crore
devotees including approximately 15 lakh international visitors—significantly
higher than the 25 crore attendees recorded during the 2019 Kumbh Mela.
- The PIB’s media tours, organised from various regions of the
country, are designed to highlight how Maha Kumbh promotes unity across caste,
religion, and culture, it stated.
