Dimapur, Feb. 24 (EMN): The youth unit of the Nationalist Democratic Progressive Party (NDPP) for Mokokchung undertook a tour to assembly constituencies in the district as part of a programme to strengthen and ‘streamline’ the organisation.
The NDPP unit issued a press release to the media on Sunday informing about the event.
The tour was said to have started on February 22 and culminated on the 23rd.
The group’s delegation was led by the president of the Mokokchung youth organisation, Bendang Walling, the press release stated.
An update from the touring party stated that the youth organisation visited 29th Jangpetkong assembly constituency; 23rd Impur assembly constituency; 22nd Arkakong assembly constituency, and 21st Tuli assembly constituency.
They held “coordination meetings” with the party constituency officials and youth units, the group stated.
During meetings at various assembly constituencies, the leaders of the NDPP youth unit urged the party’s workers to ‘strengthen the party and streamline the formation of youth organization from assembly constituency level to unit level at the earliest.’
“They stated that in a political party the youth movement is more important because they are the ambassador to the people and played the most crucial role for the growth of the party starting from the grassroots level,” the press release stated.
The party’s leaders are said to have told them that the NDPP ‘as a newly floated party in the state, the party’s units at every corner will be facing new challenges and grievances.’
Nonetheless they assured that under the leadership of Chief Minister Neiphiu Rio, and party president Chingwang Konyak, the ‘NDPP is growing strength to strength.’
“Asserting that NDPP gives much importance to promote youths, the youth leaders appealed the party workers to focus their attention towards youth empowerment and to uplift the youths in their activities,” the press release stated.
“Further, the delegation also called upon the party worker to be true to their party principle and work towards the betterment of the party with full dedication and set an exemplary mark for the Naga society.”
