WOKHA — In an effort to chart a roadmap for Nagaland’s development by 2047, the NDPP Wokha Region organised a first-of-its-kind workshop at Hammock Resort, New Wokha Village, on Saturday.
The event brought together political leaders, policy advocates, and youth representatives to spark dialogue on governance, entrepreneurship, and future-ready skills.
The workshop, titled ‘Developed Nagaland by 2047’, was chaired by Advisor to the Chief Minister, Dr. Chumben Murry. The panel of resource persons included Advisor for Agriculture Mhathung Yanthan, MLA Y Mhonbemo Humtsoe, and CEO of Pinnacle Skills Nagaland, Dr. Yan Murry.
Advisor Yanthan, speaking on the topic ‘A pathway to effective policies and public receptiveness for a developed Nagaland by 2047’, laid out a strategic framework for inclusive policy-making and community-driven development. Stressing the need for a clear vision and actionable plans, he called on citizens to be active contributors rather than passive recipients of progress.
Yanthan emphasised context-based, flexible policies rooted in evidence, asserting that public ownership of policymaking would drive long-term results. He also advocated for a shift from subsistence farming to market-orientated agriculture, viewing it not just as a way of life but as a tool for economic growth.
Encouraging the youth to explore job markets beyond state boundaries, he urged parents to support their children’s career choices.

Presenting on “Skill development and entrepreneurship towards a developed Nagaland by 2047’, Dr. Yan Murry discussed emerging employment trends shaped by artificial intelligence, urging young people to master digital tools to remain competitive. He recommended pursuing degrees in early childhood and vocational education—sectors projected to offer robust opportunities.
He further drew attention to renewable energy and the rise of electric vehicles, suggesting EV technician training be introduced at ITI Wokha. Citing Nagaland’s poor performance in marketing ease, Murry called for increased financial literacy programmes and greater youth participation in economic dialogues.
Speaking on ‘Good governance and achievements of the government towards a developed Nagaland by 2047’, Mhonbemo Humtsoe emphasised the need to transcend tribal divisions and uproot corruption. He underscored the role of digital governance and highlighted community development as the cornerstone of a progressive Nagaland.
Urging youth to commit themselves to their fields with dedication, Humtsoe advocated for inclusive politics and a shift away from the singular pursuit of government jobs toward entrepreneurship and self-reliance.
Chairing the workshop, Dr. Chumben Murry presented India’s economic trajectory under the theme Viksit Bharat, noting the country’s rise from 10th to 4th in global rankings over the past 11 years. Expressing confidence in continued growth, he encouraged Nagaland’s youth to explore tourism, industrial ventures, and technology-driven farming.
Throughout the workshop, resource persons repeatedly stressed the importance of ‘Developing Nagaland by developing Wokha’, stating that achieving state-wide visions must begin from home.
The event was attended by representatives of the Lotha Youth Hoho, Team Metamorphosis, Lotha Students’ Union, NDPP Youth Wokha Region, Wokha Village Youth Organisation, and members of the Wokha Town Council.
The workshop concluded with interactive sessions exploring strategic pathways for both district and state development. Discussions emphasised the collaboration between policymakers, civil society, and youth as essential pillars for building a resilient and prosperous Nagaland.
