The incident happened between Tsurangmen and Yisemyong area on February 23.
Narrating the first-hand report, Imkongtemjen Longkumer, an NDPP party worker, claimed that as they were making their way to Mokokchung town from Mongsenyimti village around noon when a group of persons seated in their respective vehicles belonging to the supporters of rival candidate intercepted their vehicles from both ends of the road and started pelting stones.
The situation further escalated into the firing four shots at us, he said.
In the ensuing confrontation, several party workers of NDPP sustained injuries, he said.
"I'd like to clarify that the statement of a news reporter that the bodyguard of a candidate exited from his car and fired blank shots is not true," Imkongtemjen added. Mokokchung, Feb. 24 (EMN)
