Mokokchung, July 3 (EMN): Mokokchung region of the Nationalist Democratic Progressive Party (NDPP) has regretted the allegations made against the chief minister by the Lotha Hoho (LH) and the Lotha Students’ Union (LSU) terming him “unfair and tribalistic attitude” in connection with the postponement notification of delimitation exercise.

On the allegation that the chief minister recommended the postponement of delimitation exercise on his own without the consent of party legislators or party leaders, the unit president N Bendang Jamir and general secretary S Bendang Aier have termed it “unfortunate and immature on their part without knowing the fact.”

The unit clarified that the issue was discussed and agreed upon in the cabinet meeting held on March 2 and the same was conveyed to the secretary of Ministry of Home Affairs, government of India, by the principal secretary, Home, government of Nagaland, on March 4 by submitting certain issues concerning the delimitation exercise for consideration by the GoI.

The unit also stated that the chief minister, while addressing the 45th general conference of Nagaland Civil Service Association (NCSA) on March 5 at RCEMPA, Jotsoma, had made known of the state cabinet’s view since the Naga political issue is in an advanced stage for the solution.

The unit also pointed out that on March 12, the chief minister wrote to the Union Minister for Home, Amit Shah, that the delimitation exercise on the basis of 2001 census at this crucial juncture is not advisable and recommended that the exercise may be kept in abeyance for some time.

In this regard, NDPP Mokokchung region stated that, under the given reason and circumstances, the chief minister had not taken any deceitful step to hurt the sentiments of any tribe or individual at any cost. NDPP Mokokchung region further appealed to all the right-thinking citizens of Nagaland to understand the situation and give fullest support to the decision of the PDA government.
