Kohima, Sep. 29 (EMN): Kohima region of the Nationalist Democratic Progressive Party (NDPP) has resolved to continue its support to the leadership of the state chief minister, Neiphiu Rio, and the party president, Chingwang Konyak, and also welcomed the all party government under the nomenclature of United Democratic Alliance (UDA).
The resolution to this effect was taken during its consultative meeting with Dr. Neikiesalie Nicky Kire, legislator in-charge of Kohima region, held on September 29 at Hotel Legacy in Kohima. The consultative meeting held under the leadership of its president, Avio Tetseo, also resolved to undertake a tour all the six assembly constituencies in Kohima district.
The house also decided to vigorously pursue the party enrollment drive by keeping the door open for like-minded people, who are willing to join the party. It also resolved to work hard for the party candidates from all the six constituencies under Kohima region in the next general election.
Speaking at the meeting, Dr. Kire, who is also the advisor of Urban Development and Municipal Affairs, mentioned some upcoming programmes to be launched by the Prime Minister through which people could be benefited.
He highlighted the problems faced by departments when those posts for requisition through the NPSC are being left vacant for a prolonged duration owing to reservation issues. He cited instances of how they are facing issues while awaiting a post reserved for a particular tribe to be filled up which is being delayed as qualified candidates are unavailable from the tribe at the moment.
'You can't keep waiting for a tribe as it affects the department. We are suffering because of one deficit person,' he said.
Meanwhile, Kire urged the need to have more meetings amongst the party members including the youth and women's wing of the region towards building more closeness, understanding and unity. He also asked the womenfolk to visit different constituencies in the region.
Kire also reminded the gathering to be straightforward and do away with being superficial on issues which need to be addressed. He further assured all possible assistance in addressing their problems and needs.
NDPP general secretary central Prasielie Pienyu, president of NDPP Kohima region Avio Tetso, and NDPP working president of Kohima region Keduolhoulie Huozha also spoke during the meeting.
