Dimapur, Aug. 27 (EMN): The Nationalist Democratic Progressive Party (NDPP) has attended the meeting of all recognised political parties of the country under the aegis of the Election Commission of India (ECI) at New Delhi. A press release from the party informed on Monday.
Two representatives from the party; Abu Metha, Secretary General and Rusemtong Longkumer, General Secretary attended the meeting.
The party in the meeting highlighted on the need to combat corruption and money power during elections, electoral malpractices, and the need to use technology to ensure free and fair elections.
On the issue of women representation in the political arena, the party reaffirmed their constitution commits to strive towards gender equality and that the party would support measures aimed at introducing gender related reforms in the political arena.
The NDPP appreciated ECI for recognising all sections of the country especially the small states and ensuring that the voice of the people is heard through such forums.
Further, the party has assured that it would continue to support and extend all possible cooperation to the ECI in the common endeavours of strengthening the foundations of the world’s largest democracy.
