Our Correspondent Kohima, Nov. 27 (EMN): The president of the Nationalist Democratic Progressive Party (NDPP) Chingwang Konyak on Wednesday formally inaugurated the party’s office for the 10-Northern Angami-I assembly constituency on Wednesday at L-Khel in Kohima village, Kohima district. Speaking at the inauguration, Konyak said that the organisation remains ‘strong’ as the party members continue to take proactive role in the constituency and at regional levels. “The work will begin from today,” he said while inaugurating the office. The head of the NDPP reminded the party’s leaders and workers of the constituency that it was time to carry out their duties and to make preparations for the next elections. Referring to Kekhrie Yhome, the NDPP’s candidate who contested from the constituency in the previous assembly elections, Konyak urged the workers to start working for their candidate to ‘get the mandate’ when contesting in the next elections. He said that the party’s members should point out the weakness and instability of their opponents to the public while increasing the growth of the NDPP and maintaining its strength. Konyak called for unity, cooperation and understanding in the party to make the NDPP stay in power even after the next elections. He stated that the NDPP’s objectives are not meant for vested interests but to implement its ideologies, policies and programmes to form a stable government to develop Nagaland and to work for the welfare of the public. “NDPP is formed to bring changes in Nagaland,” he asserted, adding that through the leadership of Chief Minister Neiphiu Rio, the party will take Nagaland forward. “We have a strong leadership. So we will bring changes in Nagaland,” the NDPP president said. Konyak also asserted that the party will continue to remain facilitators for the Nagaland political settlement. Neitsu Khezhie, acting president of the NDPP for 10-Northern Angami-I, informed that the constituency has requested the central office to grant some political posts to their candidate Kekhrie Yhome.
