Dimapur, April 13
The Nagaland Contractors’ & Suppliers’ Union (NCSU) has appealed to Union Minister for Road Transport and Highway, Nitin Gadkari not to allow Gayatri to execute four-laning of Dimapur-Kohima National Highway road project unless SARDP projects are completed in Nagaland.
“If Gayatri wants to go ahead with the new project, they would be doing so at their own risk and NCSU should not be held responsible for any unwarranted incident”.
The NCSU Vice President KL Setuo Rutsa and Secretary Neilo Koza in a memorandum to the minister said the union was overwhelmed with the announcement of the four-laning of Dimapur-Kohima National Highway but expressed surprise at the reports about the National Highways and Infrastructure Development Corporation Ltd (NHIDCL) and Union MoRTH awarding Gayatri Projects a work order worth Rs. 340 crore for four-laning of sections of existing Dimapur-Kohima road in Nagaland, despite the total failure of Mayatas and Gayatri (JV) to complete the 4 projects under SARDP Phase-I in Nagaland, which include construction of two-laning road i.e. Longleng – Changtongya road; Mon– Tamlu, Merangkong road; Phek–Pfütsero road and Zunheboto–Chakhabama road.Contractors on BSNL-II Zone alleged irregularity
The Nagaland Government Registered Contractors and Suppliers’ Union (NGRCSU) has extended support to Kohima District Congress Committee (KDCC) for bringing out the alleged irregularity in BSNL NE-II Zone, Dimapur, Nagaland under the e-tender of awarding contract works.
In a release today, NGRCSU president Seyiekuolie stated that the reputation of BSNL has taken a beating for the alleged irregularity on favouritism, which should not have happened at all.
The union appealed to the BSNL authorities to relook into the e-tender of awarding of works, where, according to reports, all the bidders are local Naga contractors.
While stating that any qualified and deserving contractor should be awarded through fair means, the NGRCSU also demanded the concerned authority to take necessary action against the corrupt officials.
