Dimapur, October 6 : The Nagaland Contractors’ and Suppliers Union (NCSU) has reiterated that they would not to allow Maytas-Gayatri (JV) to carry forward the Dimapur-Kohima National Highway-29 four-lane project until and unless the latter complete the SARDP-I two-laning project.
The union also cautioned that if the company goes ahead in implementing the new project, they would be doing so at their own risk, as their (NCSU) volunteers would be monitoring their activities round the clock, NCSU vice president K L Setuo Rutsa and secretary Hoshito Assumi said in a release today.
The NCSU insisted that Maytas-Gayatri (JV) first complete their abandoned two-laning projects under Special Accelerated Road Development Project (SARDP) Phase-I.
“Maytas-Gayatri (JV) has fooled the Naga people by abandoning the two-laning road project after the formation cutting only, which has caused immense hardship to the citizens of several districts in the State,” it stated.
Even though it has been demanding that the joint venture should not be awarded any other major projects in the State unless they complete the SARDP Phase-I project, the union said they have managed to eyewash the Union Ministry of Road Transport and Highways in winning the four-laning of Dimapur-Kohima National Highway.
