Nagaland Contactors’ & Suppliers’ Union (NCSU) has strongly demanded the state government to discontinue or ban organizations, unions and associations who are seeking for registration with the Home Department with immediate effect. The NCSU in a representation to the Home Commissioner complained that many ‘unnecessary’ organizations are seeking for registration as NGO with the State Home Department for self-interest, creating confusion and duplication of genuine organizations in the state.
“Of late, there are attempts on the part of vested interest to create division within the family of contract and business fraternity, thereby trying to form separate contractor or supplier union in a particular state government department.”
The representation, appended by NCSU president Pele Khezhie and general secretary, John Kath clarified that NCSU, the apex organization which was established in 1975, was duly recognized by government of Nagaland covering all the 11 districts with units affiliated to it.
The NCSU mentioned that the state government of Nagaland has issued memorandum vide orders thrice in 1985, 1986 and 1995, that all the contract and supply works in the state of Nagaland be awarded only to those who are registered members of NCSU and are holding identity card of NCSU.
“This is because of the fact that all the contractors and suppliers in the state who are bonafide members and holding identity card of NCSU are eligible to get work from the state government department of Nagaland.”
Drawing the attention on the matter, the NCSU requested the government to take it up on top priority.
