DIMAPUR — The Nagaland Contractors & Suppliers' Union (NCSU) has appealed to the state chief minister to approve “one firm one work order” to forty firms during the third phase of PMGSY in Nagaland.
The union in a representation to the chief minister stated that it has learned from reliable sources that the Government of India, under Rural Development, is contemplating implementing forty PMGSY projects in Nagaland.

Keeping in mind the interest of the registered contractors of Nagaland, NCSU stated that though there are many local class-1 registered contractors, only a few contractors and firms “are privileged leaving many other firms high and dry.”
In order to deliver justice to other less-privileged contractors also, NCSU requested the chief minister to give approval for issuing one work order each to forty firms “for the execution of the project work effectively.”
The union also pointed out that the National Rural Infrastructure Development Agency (NRIDA) has issued detailed guidelines for the construction of a minimum of 15% of road length under PMGSY by using new technologies.
“States and Union Territories would mandatorily construct roads under PMGSY-III by also using plastics waste within the minimum 15% of road length prescribed for new technologies as envisaged in the detailed guidelines issued by NRIDA,” the representation stated.
“And works will be packaged so as to attract competent contractors with modern machinery and equipment and capable of nurturing small contractors,” it added.
