Kohima, Jan. 19: The Nagaland Senior Citizens’ Association (NSCA) has on Thursday urged all in concern that the elections to the municipal and town councils should be conducted after ‘wider consultations.’ The organization issued a press release today. The NCSA informed that the organization held an emergency meeting and discussed “the turn of events hovering around the state.” Considering the gravity of the matter and nature of the case, the group stated, it was felt necessary to ‘impress upon the government and the authorities in authorities its view that ULB election should be held after further consultation.’ The NSCA also expressed concern over the fencing along the international boundary between India and Myanmar. The organization maintained that further construction should be stopped. The forum has called for proper consultation and consent from the people of the area. In other matters, the organization expressed gratitude to faith groups, tribal organizations and others that cooperated in protesting the ‘Good Governance Day’, i.e., December 25. It also thanked the state government of Nagaland for not observing the day. Also, the NSCA conveyed its appreciation to the governor of Nagaland “in taking up the fuel adulteration and PDS to CBI.” Further, the association congratulated the Nagaland Tribes’ Council ‘in bringing together 6 NNPGs into one platform, “setting splendour example”.’
