Nagaland recorded 14 rape victims in 2024, while total crimes against women remained at 56 cases, NCRB report stated.

KOHIMA — Nagaland recorded 14 rape victims among women and girls in 2024, according to the recently released Crime in India 2024 report published by the National Crime Records Bureau under the Ministry of Home Affairs.
According to the report, two of the victims were below six years of age, one was between 6–12 years, one between 12–16 years, one between 16–18 years, seven victims were in the 18–30 age group, and two victims were aged between 30–35 years.
The report stated that 11 offenders were identified, while three offenders remained unknown or unidentified.
Of the identified offenders, two were family members, while the remaining nine were family friends, neighbours, employers, or other persons known to the victims.
Nationwide, a total of 29,536 women and girls were reported as rape victims in 2024. The highest number of victims belonged to the 18–30 age group, accounting for 19,489 cases across the country.

Other crimes against women reported in Nagaland during 2024 included nine cases of assault on women with intent to outrage modesty.
Of these, two victims were above 18 years of age, while seven were minors.
The report also recorded four cases of sexual harassment involving minor victims, and three cases of assault or use of criminal force with intent to disrobe, including two adult victims and one minor victim. One case of attempt to rape was also reported.
In addition, four cases of cruelty by husbands or relatives and three cases of kidnapping and abduction of women were registered during the year.
The report stated that total IPC/Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS) crimes against women in Nagaland stood at 38 in 2024, including 14 cases registered under the Indian Penal Code (IPC) and 24 under the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS).
Further, two cases of cybercrime and two cases related to publishing or transmitting sexually explicit material were reported.
The state also recorded 17 cases under the Protection of Children from Sexual Offences (POCSO) Act involving girl child victims during 2024.
According to the report, total crimes against women (IPC and Special and Local Laws) in Nagaland stood at 49 cases in 2022, which increased to 56 cases in 2023 and remained at 56 cases in 2024. The crime rate against women in the state in 2024 was recorded at 5.1, while the chargesheeting rate stood at 83.6 per cent.
