
Dimapur, Dec. 11 (EMN): As an extension initiative to its annual conference, Nagaland College Principal Association (NCPA) conducted a seminar on employability through skill-based quality education in higher education at Japfü Christian College, Kohima, on December 9.
In his keynote address, the vice chancellor of Nagaland University, Prof. Jagadish Kumar Patnaik, has stressed on the practicality and inevitability of NEP 2020 and the need to prepare in line with the demand of market and society, stated an update from the association.
Presenting a paper on “Blending Naga indigenous knowledge in higher education,” Dr. I Wati Imchen, principal of Fazil Ali College in Mokokchung and resource person, envisioned incorporating and designing syllabus and courses based on Naga indigenous skills and knowledge--Naga values and norms, Naga cuisine, Naga dance and music, organic farming. He also stressed on the need of such designs to be cost effective.
Dr. Lily Sema, additional director of Higher Education, congratulated Nagaland University for implementing the ‘Choice-based credit system’ and expressed hope that it would be introduced soon for the academic bank of credits.
The programme was organised in collaboration with the IQAC of Japfü Christian College and Nagaland State Commission for Women (NSCW), government of Nagaland.
