Mokokchung, June 17: Brigadier MS Nikam, Group Commander NCC, Nagaland State, inspected the ‘Annual Training Camp’ being conducted by the 25 NL (I) Coy, NCC Mokokchung, at 78 CRPF Bn located at Mokokchung DEF on Friday.
Altogether 419 Junior Division and Senior Division NCC cadets from 26 institutions of the State are participating in the camp. The camp got underway from June 15 under the supervision of Lt Col V Srinivas, CO of 25 NL (I) Coy NCC, Mokokchung.
Addressing the cadets, Brigadier MS Nikam said NCC is a largest youth organization in uniform and the world only youth organization run by the arms forces for the civil personnel.
Saying that the Prime Minister, Narendra Modi, was also a NCC cadet and one of the most illustrious individual in the country, he said NCC cadets are look up with great respect because they are most discipline youth in India. He also added that NCC aims to make responsibility citizens for the state and the country.
The group commander also made it cleared that NCC cadets are not obliged to join the Indian arms forces although they wear uniforms, however, it is an organization to motivate the youth about serving the noble, honorable and respectful profession. “It is our endeavors to impart you the best quality in life… not to make you soldiers but to contribute for the progress of our country,” he said.
Stating that youth are the one to formulate ideas and policies for the future of the nation, MS Nikam encouraged the cadets to focus more on their academics. He said, “Simply acquiring degree with an average academic marks is not going to help you; there are millions of graduates who are flooding round India with certificates having less than 50 percent marks…without any value. You have to secure got marks, for that you must study hard and ventured out for better avenues.”
Also stating that the country is making progress in all front, he however, lamented that ‘we are still lacking behind in cleanliness and open defecation.’ In this connection, he called upon the cadets to take proactive role in Swachh Bharat Mission (SBM).
He also informed that from August 1-15, SBM fortnight would be observe for the youth of India. He has requested the ANO and CTO to get together and make efforts to educate the population and take up some concrete steps to improve the cleanliness standard in India.
