To promote holistic peace and progress in India, the National Christian Council (NCC) on Sunday held an event at Youth Oasis Centre, Eralibil, Dimapur.
Speaking on the occasion as the chief guest, the union minister of state for Minority Affairs, John Barla, stated that the Christian community in the country has not received its due recognition and respect despite significant its immense contribution towards the nation building since the pre-independence period.
Barla stated that the educational institutes set up by the Christian community in the country have produced scholars, scientists, and political leaders among others. IN this context, he urged upon the people of various communities to remain united for the common good.
Barla stated that as the MoS of Minority Affairs, he has been reaching out to the community members and highlighting on the various welfare schemes. In order to bring about changes in the community, he opined that people need to come forward and even join politics. While assuring to arrange appointment with the Prime Minister and the Home Minister, Barla has urged the organisers to list down their grievances and place before them.

On the occasion, the editor Nagaland Post, Geoffrey Yaden, and the president of Naga Students’ Federation (NSF), Kegwayhun Tep, spoke on the occasion. The programme concluded with a vote of thanks delivered by Rev. Dr. TN Lotha.
