Dimapur, Oct. 13 (EMN): A 10-day NCC combined annual training camp (CATC-VI) 2018 was successfully held at Sainik School Punglwa where 133 cadets from junior and senior division participated. The camp started on Oct. 3 and concluded on Oct. 12.
CATC is a part of annual programme of NL (I) Sainik School Coy, NCC under Group Headquarter NCC, Kohima. The cadets were divided into three companies Alpha, Bravo and Charlie to inculcate a spirit of cooperation, bonhomie and competition.
During the course of the camp, the cadets were imparted thorough training in various activities like weapon training, parade drill, range firing, map reading, disaster management and tent pitching.
After being trained on these activities, inter-company competitions were conducted as part of the camp where the cadets enthusiastically participated in cross-country race, volleyball, basketball, drill, tent pitching and cultural programme. In addition, cadets also went for a night route march of 10 kms. As a part of social cause the cadets also conducted Swatchta Abhiyan at Punglwa village.
The cadets were also given a demonstration on disaster management, security, first-aid and fire fighting by commandant of disaster management, Akhu Kath and team leader sub-inspector N Vikiho Awomi. They were given a demonstration on the techniques and the ways to respond in times of emergency situation.
After the 10 day camp, ‘Charlie company’ emerged as the overall winner. Gp Capt Sharad R Keskar, the Principal of the school, who attended the camp as chief guest on the concluding day, presented the trophy to the winners. He appreciated all the cadets and complimented them for their outstanding achievements. He expressed his happiness for their dedication and industrious nature of the boys, informed a press release from the school.
