National Cadet Corps cadets from St. Joseph’s College Jakhama scale Mount Saramati, marking a historic feat in Nagaland.

DIMAPUR — Five National Cadet Corps (NCC) cadets of St. Joseph’s College (Autonomous), Jakhama, participated in the Mt. Saramati Expedition held from March 13 to the 21st, organised by NCC Group, Kohima.
The cadets were among 40 NCC participants (20 boys and 20 girls) in the expedition and included LCPL Jirhe Ngouri, LCPL Grace R Mozhui and CDT Hojila H from 1 Nagaland BN NCC, Kohima, and CPL Perampenthiubo and LCPL Vizosieto Kere from 24 Nagaland BN NCC, Kohima.
They were part of the first NCC cadets in the history of NCC in Nagaland, and of the college, to have successfully scaled Mt. Saramati, the highest peak in Nagaland at 12,552 ft.

On March 21, the team was felicitated at NCC Group HQ, Kohima, for their achievement.
On the same day, Maj. Regina Razousinuo, Associate NCC Officer (Senior Wing) of St. Joseph’s College (Autonomous), Jakhama, from 1 Nagaland BN NCC, Kohima, was conferred the Director General NCC Commendation Card and Medal for the third time by Brig. Shantanu P Mainkar, Group Commander, NCC Group, Kohima, for her sincerity, dedication and performance in the National Cadet Corps.
The award for the year 2025 was announced on the occasion of NCC Day on November 23, 2025, by the Directorate General NCC, Ministry of Defence, Government of India, New Delhi. It comprised a citation, a badge and a cash award.
