DIMAPUR — Kohima district administration, in collaboration with Zub Zub India, inaugurated the National Clean Air Programme (NCAP) at Vineizono hall of Sazolie College on February 23.
An update from the college stated that the college principal, Dr. Gopal Chtri, delivered the welcome address, while the keynote address was delivered by Dr. Riku Khutso, EAC, wherein he spoke about the programmes and activities under NCAP.
In a short speech, the deputy commissioner of Kohima, Kumar Ramnikant, attributed dust from bad road and construction sites, vehicular emission, burning of waste and firewood for cooking to the major sources of air pollution in Kohima city. He encouraged the students to practice healthy management of wastes and use of vehicles.
It was followed with a presentation on NCAP by Pelenuo Yhome from Zub Zub India.
Meanwhile, the district administration contributed four cycles to the NSS units of Sazolie College, which was flagged off by Dr. Gopal Chetri on March 1. The principal encouraged the students to make use of the opportunities given to them and to help spread awareness and take care of the environment.
