Dimapur, April 15 (EMN): Nagaland Congress, as a political party, vowed to fight tooth and nail against BJP’s politics of anti Christianity.
‘When BJP is all out to promote Hindu, Nagaland Congress, will likewise, defend our faith and practices as a matter of conviction as well as constitutional right, NPCC Media Cell said in a circular which was made available to the media houses.
‘Whether NPF should continue the marriage with BJP till swamis and yogis are sufficiently born to saffronise Nagaland is best left to supporting people to decide when they can. And in this grave situation million dollar question is whether the church should remain silent because consequence of silence may fall upon the church,’ NC said.
Citing the claim of BJP leaders, who publicly claimed now and then, that their party will form next government in Nagaland, NC questioned how could BJP hope to form government in Nagaland, when anti Christianity movement has reached ‘our doorstep.’
NC accused BJP of being ‘intoxicated with overwhelming electoral success and without formidable opposition from any corner’ with an aim to make India a Hindu Rashtra- one nation, one culture, one diet, one religion.
‘Imposition of Good Governance Day on Christmas Day, Judges Day and now Digital India Day on Good Friday, Yoga Day on Father’s Day is clear demonstration of BJP’s total contempt towards Christianity and Christian community of India,’ NPCC said.
Meanwhile, in a separate statement, Nagaland Pradesh Congress Committee (NPCC) alleged BJP government at the centre of brazenly disregarding the sentiments of other religious minorities particularly Christians, which is becoming a routine affair, Nagaland Pradesh Congress Committee (NPCC) warned that it will only be a matter of time they start invading our homes issuing diktats on what to eat, wear, follow, speak, worship and so on.
In the midst of all these sacrilege, NPCC has accused BJP-RSS combined as inseparable partners.
It stated that in 2014, when BJP government announced observance of Good Governance day on December 25 which happened to be Christmas day, NPF took two good years to wake up from self induced slumber and put up a semblance of their existence only in 2016 against making Christmas day irrelevant. It said this year, the BJP had gone further ahead to observe Digital India Day on April 14 despite the day being Good Friday. It stated that only after Meghalaya took the lead in protest against this move, the NPF government belatedly come up with their feeble statement.
Spurred by the electoral success of the BJP, NPCC said the country is now witnessing the rise of fringe elements who are taking law into their own hands to dispense street justice that is no different from Taliban regime. It cautioned that with prevalent situation Article 371(A) of the Indian Constitution, which shelters Nagaland, would become irrelevant once these laws come into being.
In the light of the above stated circumstances, NPCC said it is time for the people of Nagaland to rise up to the occasion and reject these communal forces and their agents in the form of NPF before it is too late.
