NAGALAND Board of School Education (NBSE) has introduced a course in Financial Market Management (FMM) for the students of Class XI & XII from the academic year 2014. NBSE has introduced of the course in compliance to the directive of the Government of India which had laid a lot of emphasis on streamlining education in recent years so that it fulfills the emerging need of the market by focusing on employability skills.
To enhance the financial literacy of school pass outs, keeping them at par with global standard, NBSE is attempting a paradigm shift in school education from pure academics to orientation towards skill development and employability while maintaining the scope of vertical mobility for higher education.
The newly launched innovative FMM programme would address the core areas of finance like financial market basics, mutual funds, capital market and derivative market, which are poised to generate significant demand for employment in the coming years.
The course would also offer joint certification with National Stock Exchange India LTD., where all the students have to appear in the industry recognised NCFM Modules such as Financial Markets: A Beginners’ Module; Mutual Fund (Beginners) Module; Mutual Fund (Advanced) Module; Capital Market (Dealers) Module and Derivatives Market (Dealers) Module.
To facilitate the implementation of the programme, NBSE and NSEIL have jointly organized a five days workshop for Training of Teachers (TOT) from June 2 to 6 at NBSE conference hall, Kohima.
The training began with the chairperson NBSE Asano Sekhose welcoming the teachers to the workshop. She dwelled on the importance and relevance of financial markets subject in today’s world order.
Eminent Financial coach Arindam Bakshi, PGDBM (IIT, KGP), has conducted the workshop for 25 teachers representing 15 Higher Secondary Schools and Colleges. The workshop encircled important financial concepts of capital market and derivative market operations, fundamental valuation concepts, mutual fund structure and analysis, practical skills and scheme of subjects for the course. Effective and efficient hand-holding of Arindam Bakshi has set the tune harmonious for encouraging launch of FMM course in different schools of Nagaland under NBSE.
