Dimapur, April 26 (EMN): The Nagaland Board of School Education (NBSE) in collaboration with the Madhuban Educational Books, organised seminars themed on global education for heads of institutions registered with the board, during April 24-25.
A DIPR update informed that 402 heads of institutions attended the seminar. The event was conducted at the Greenwood Higher Secondary School and Capital Convention Centre held on April 24 and the 25th in that order.
Speaking during the seminars, resource person G Balasubramanian said that education was all about ‘re-discovering ourselves.’ He talked about how the ‘wheel of educational history’ had turned and that educators today need to ‘open up and absorb new skills, new knowledge, new opportunities.’ He said that schools should impart knowledge to students with which they can face challenges.
“A school is basically about energy management. Children are more knowledgeable than the teachers in today’s context. Therefore, as heads, one need to update themselves, re-learn and be ready to change,” he added.
Further, Balasubramanian spoke about future challenges of education including virtual and augmented reality, big data, and the Internet of Things, and multi-disciplinary learning and intent learning. He urged principals and headmasters to create a friendly environment for students to develop their abilities and skills. He said that the head as the leader should ‘know the way, go the way and show the way.’ He spoke also about the qualities of leaders.
The speaker sounded a clarion call to the heads of institutions to pursue self-learning, skill development; being part of change; and reform, transform and constantly update themselves so that they can perform better.
Asano Sekhose, the NBSE’s chairman, spoke about important concerns of the board, which she felt were important and necessary for the heads of institutions to know. She urged them to ‘read and follow’ the guidelines, regulations, and notifications issued by the board for smooth academic and administrative functioning of the schools.
