Dimapur, July 1 (EMN): Four members headed by Chairman of NBDA Visasolie Lhounghu and Principal Secretary, APC and Mission Director Imkonglemba Ao (IAS) along with Team Leader and Member NBDA were part of the Indian Delegates to participate during the Global Bamboo and Rattan Congress at Beijing, (People’s Republic of China) from June 25 - 27 2018.
The programme was organized by International Network for Bamboo and Rattan Organisation (INBAR) and Hosted by National Forestry and Grassland Administration of PR China,
where Bamboo experts, organisations, scientist from around the world participated, informed a press release issued by M Kichung Phom, Team member NBDA.
the release informed that the three day event included plenary sessions on high level dialogue and parallel sessions for each country and regions focusing on use of bamboo and ‘Rattan’ as strategic resources that support sustainable development and their green economy actions plan, its strategy and performance as a direct contributing factor towards sustainable Development Goals (SDGs)
the release informed that T Imkonglemba Ao (IAS) chaired one of the parallel sessions of the second day focusing on the Role of Bamboo in Economic development in India.
In another Session focussing on Bamboo plants’ unique contribution to climate change on North East India perspective, Papers were presented by Ram Muivah (IAS) NEC Secretary, T Imkonglemba (IAS) and Peter Lichamo.
The Team from Nagaland meet Dr.Hans Friederich Director General INBAR and also visited the largest bamboo nursery and tissue culture lab in China, where an in-depth interaction and discussion with Prof. Tan Hongchao from Yunnan Normal University and Kamesh Salam President South Asian Bamboo Foundation for future collaboration was held.
