NBCC urges the Yimkhiung and Tikhir communities to exercise restraint, pursue dialogue and work towards peace after recent violence
DIMAPUR — The Nagaland Baptist Church Council (NBCC) has appealed to the Yimkhiung and Tikhir communities to exercise restraint and resolve their differences through dialogue following the recent violence that left families distressed and communities on edge.
In a statement, the council expressed concern over the violence and its impact on affected families, warning that further confrontation could deepen divisions. It urged all concerned to avoid words and actions that could aggravate tensions.
The NBCC called on the state government, tribal organisations, village authorities and civil society groups to work together to restore normalcy, facilitate dialogue and address the issues underlying the dispute.

A peaceful resolution, it stated, would require patience, fairness and a willingness to listen to one another. Violence, the council added, would only cause further suffering and widen divisions between the communities.
The council also appealed to churches, pastors and Christian families across Nagaland to pray for peace and for wisdom among the leaders handling the situation. It urged churches to help foster hope and reconciliation amid the uncertainty.
The NBCC called on both communities to uphold mutual respect, warning against allowing differences to develop into prolonged hostility. The future and well-being of the people, it said, must take precedence over continued confrontation.
