Dimapur, June 12 (EMN): The Nagaland Baptist Churches Council, the apex and the biggest church organisation in the State has strongly indicated its displeasure over the Gujarat schoolbook blooper wherein Jesus was referred to as Haivan(devil) and asserted that the issue was not just an unintentional printing error but an insult to the Christians. In a press note to the media the apex church organisation stated that " Though the authority has tried to pacify the error as printing mistake, it has hurt the sentiment of the minority Christians in the country. The explanation came short of apology to the community. It is not enough to verbally state that it is an error because for millions of Christian, Jesus is Lord and Savior. Needless to say, Christian do not even write Jesus with a small "j" out of reverence. In that context to call Jesus as a demon (haivaan) is not only a mistake but an insult." It further stated that at a time when religious minority were " pinned to the wall, such error is uncalled for." It claimed that it is an insensitive act on the part of the Gujarat Education Department and so as assured by the State Education minister, Shri Bhupendrasinh Chudasama, the error should not only be corrected but due apology must also be tendered to the Christian community in the country.
