THE unending woes of traversing through potholed and dusty roads, in the state capital, Kohima seem to be coming to a close. The users got a little respite in the past few days, with visible road improvement and expansion works being carried out from the main town to IG stadium. The contractor entrusted with the work, Shri K.C Angami is doing a good job. Unlike the usual cosmetic black topping of roads, which does not survive even a single monsoon at the high rainfall area, this time round the quality of workmanship seems to be better, the thick coat of bitumen on the surface will last and is acting as a deterrent against dust, besides ensuring a smooth ride.
The Committee also lauds the Kohima Municipal Council for clearing up drains from BOC area to Pezielietsie, Tinpatti and its plan to proceed till High School Road. However in the backdrop of this positive development comes a responsibility for the public as well, to upkeep the assets while maintaining the cleanliness of our town. NBCC Sanitation and Environment Committee appeals to the denizens of Kohima not to litter or pile up waste on the road, near drains, avoid clogging of drains by throwing waste into it, construct proper drainage and preserve the natural beauty and cleanliness of the capital city.
