The Nagaland Baptist Church Council has appealed to all the Baptist churches in Nagaland to set aside May 17, as a day of prayer for the people of Nepal and for the victims of the earthquake that ripped through the mountainous country killing at least 7, 500 people.The council issued a press release on Thursday. “After the great devastation left behind by the earthquake on April 25, 2015 and May 12, 2015, Nepal continues to suffer much as more aftershocks persist to strike the nation causing fear and tension among the people,” the NBCC stated in the press release.
“In relation to Nepal earthquake, the Nagaland Baptist Church Council launched appeal for contribution toward the victims and we are pleased to inform that many people are responding positively. Reliefs are coming in to NBCC office already and the council is grateful to those churches, families and individuals who have contributed toward this cause,” the Baptist organization stated.
The NBCC has urged all well-wishers to continue making donations toward this cause.
