Dimapur, Aug. 2 (EMN): In the wake of the unprecedented bad weather and heavy rainfall for the last couple of weeks, the Nagaland Baptist Church Council (NBCC) today requested all the churches to set aside this weekend, especially Sunday Aug. 5 2018 ‘to intercede and seek God’s intervention and deliverance and bring healing to our people and the land.
An NBCC press communiqué stated that the heavy monsoon rains have caused loss of lives and properties, damage to agriculture and infrastructure, caused landslides and blockages making life inconvenient and uncertain for many people.
In this connection, the NBCC asked the people to extend any possible help to those who are working hard to bring the situation to normal and said that ‘we need each other when things are beyond our control.
Saying that we need to extend support in any possible way to bring comfort to those who are affected, the NBCC solicited the people to join hands and overcome this situation ‘seeking God’s intervention and mercy upon us so that he will be gracious to our land’.
Therefore, it requested all the churches to set aside this weekend, especially this Sunday, to intercede and seeks God’s intervention and deliverance. It solicited the believers to extend their hands freely to those in need and also to pray for those who have lost their loved one in the water, landslides and other related accidents during this unfortunate period.
“We, therefore, urge the believers and the church as a community of people to turn to our neighbours and extend any possible help to the families and the suffering community that need help,” the communiqué stated.
It also asked the people to pray for those in authority so that God may grand them wisdom and guidance as they seek to address the situation now and also in the days to come.
It further called upon all the people to exercise extreme care in the face of the fragile infrastructures of road and bridges and heavy soil erosion leading to landslides.
