Dimapur, July 29 (EMN): Conspicuously unhappy with years of neglect and apathy from the successive governments towards the deteriorating road conditions, Notun Bosti Council (NBC) today undertook a social work within its jurisdiction by filling potholes and levelling the roads.
The community drive was the result of unrequited response of the State government over the decades, which compelled the residents to help themselves by mobilising funds through good will donation among the well wishers.
During the social work, the residents filled the potholes and levelled the roads which were unattended over the decades.
NBC lamented that the road conditions in the locality has not seen any improvement despite frequent appeals and reminders to the State government and the MLA concerned. It may be mentioned here that lack of drainage and potholes have given way to water-logging which further compoundd the problem.
The roads in the locality were last metalled some 30 years ago. NBC chairman, E Jon Ezung said that the day’s initiative found support in the form of the DMC lending an excavator and a road roller.
Meanwhile, the council has expressed gratitude to the DMC for the logistic support extende to the Colony during the social work.
