
The five-day National Theatre Festival 2017 organised by National School of Drama (NSD) in collaboration with Department of Art & Culture culminated on Sunday evening at Mokokchung Town Hall.
The culmination programme was graced by MCC Administrator and ADC Mokokchung W Manpai Phom.
The five-day festival from which started on Oct. 10 saw theatrical plays of Jina and Etiben directed by Bendang Walling, Hill Theatre, Nagaland; Kamala Kunwarir Sadhu directed by Simanta Phukan, North East Theatre Academy, Assam; Madhyamvyayog directed by Arpit Shidhore, Shri Nagri Natak Mandali, Uttar Pradesh; Be-dawa driected by Dr Sahib Singh, Aktors on Stage, Punjab; The Net directed by Vithura Sudhakaran, Suhruth Nataka Kalari, Kerala and Chinnamul directed by Asim Kumar Nath, Sarsa group, Assam.
The play ‘Chinnamul’ directed by Asim Kumar Nath enacted by Sarasa group, Assam was featured at the closing programme.
The play depicts the story of the people straying away from the mainstream of tradition and culture. It also takes an in-depth look at the crisis that emanates from the surrendering identity and culture in accepting an alien culture.
