DIMAPUR — The National Socialist Women’s Organisation of Nagalim (NSWON) has expressed alarm over incidents where women's safety is compromised, and victims are left to fend for themselves against atrocities.
In a statement, NSWON stated that in today's fast-developing Naga society, women's empowerment is not just a word anymore but a reality, and yet male chauvinism gains even greater height and depicts its ugly side in daily life.
The organisation stated that the male-dominated society has become a symbol of too much insecurity amongst women, where the feminine gender is only viewed from the focal lenses of satiating the opposite gender's urges or having to go through the unspoken brutality of domestic violence.
“We despise the society of ‘sati,’ where a widow was immolated on her deceased husband's funeral pyre; ‘dowry system’ still prevalent in the mainland Hindu society; thus, we also loathe a Naga society where a women's rights and modesty are disregarded and assumed degradable,” it stated.
The NSWON stated that it is unthinkable that even minors are not spared, and that it pricks “us with excruciating absurdity to even harbour such devilish dragnets.”

The organisation reminded the “male-opinionated” Naga society that it is the same woman who bore them for nine months and laboriously gave them birth, and the fact that a son born to a mother grows up to take every liberty towards the opposite gender is ludicrous.
The NSWON affirmed that it shall and will always stand up for the rights of a woman, her empowerment in the field of academics, economy, politics, spirituality, revival of culture, aesthetics, or excellence in sports.
“The National Socialist Women’s Organisation of Nagalim appeals the concerned authorities to diligently perform their duties and swiftly book culprits and to ensure due justice delivered promptly,” it added.
