Dimapur, Feb. 24 (EMN): Indian Council of Social Science Research (ICSSR) has organised a national seminar at Fazl Ali College, Mokokchung, on February 22 on the theme “Writing quality research papers: preparation, presentation and production.”
The seminar covered the sub-themes including “Identifying priority area of research,’ ‘The importance and technique of literature review,’ ‘The scope of research,’ ‘Research objective and hypothesis,’ ‘Various research methods,’ ‘Presentation of findings,’ ‘The issue of plagiarism,’ ‘Peer reviewing and scholarly journals,’ ‘Open access journals,’ and ‘Publishing research findings.’
Altogether eighty participants attended the seminar.
The college’s press release stated that three resource persons were invited to deliver talks namely Prof. Kedilezou Kikhi, department of sociology; Dr. Ambedkar from Tezpur University; and Dr. DR Gautam. It added that Dr. Lanusangla Tzudir, chief editor of Heritage
Publishing House, Dimapur, presented a talk on “Identifying priority areas and publishing.”
It stated eight papers were presented during the three sessions. Dr. Giribabu M, assistant professor from department of economics, Nagaland University, president paper on “Data analysis and interpretation;” while Dr. Suponglila, assistant professor from department of sociology, Fazl Ali College, presented paper on “Literature review in research writing;” Dr. Phyobenthung, assistant professor from department of political science, Fazl Ali College, presented paper on “Referencing in research writings;” Dr. Mahendra Prakash, head and assistant professor from department of political science, Ramabai Government Mahila PG College, AKbarpur, Ambedkar Nagar, UP, presented paper on “Peer review and managing research standards;” Dr. Bendangtemjen, assistant professor from department of geography, Fazl Ali College, presented paper on “Citation and plagiarism in research writings;” Dr. Lanurenla, assistant professor from department of English, Fazl Ali College, presented paper on “The problem of data collection in ethnographic research;” Dr. Usha Kumari, associate professor department of political science from Shri. Agrasen Mahila Mahavidyalaya, Azamgarh, UP, presented paper on
“Research quality output and methodology for social revolution;” and Dr. Abhijit Borah, associate professor from department of physics, Fazl Ali College, presented paper on “Academic publishing realities in sciences.”
The seminar concluded with remarks by Dr. Watimongla Pongener, content editor, seminar committee, HoD and associate professor from department of English, Fazl Ali College.
