- DIMAPUR — The
valedictory session of the two-day national seminar on "Social lives of
infrastructure in northeast India: navigating diversity, connectivity and
resilience" was held on February 28 at the conference hall of the
department of Sociology, Nagaland University, Lumami.
- According to an update, Dr. Sandeep Gupta, convenor of the
seminar, highlighted the depth of the deliberations on the social implications
of infrastructure in NE India, emphasising the challenges of connectivity,
diversity and resilience.
- It was attended by and addressed by, among others, Prof. GT
Thong, pro vice-chancellor, Nagaland University, Kohima Campus, and the patron,
Prof. Mithilesh Kumar Sinha.
- Meanwhile, a 10-day Research Methodology Course for M.Phil.,
Ph.D., and PDF scholars in Social Sciences, sponsored by the Indian Council of
Social Science Research (ICSSR), New Delhi, concluded at Nagaland University’s
Kohima Campus, Meriema, on February 28.
- Jointly organised by the department of Management and the
department of Education, the course commenced on February 19.
- Prof. Khundrakpam Devananda Singh, head of the department of
Management, emphasised on the occasion that the completion of this programme
marked not an end, but rather the beginning of new academic and research
pursuits.
- The ceremony was attended by Prof. Buno Zetsuvi, former dean
of the School of Humanities and Education, Nagaland University, as the chief
guest.
- In her address, Prof. Zetsuvi underscored the importance of
research in unlocking new dimensions of knowledge and problem-solving. She
spoke about the significance of objectivity and reliability in research,
stressing the need for ethical practices that contribute meaningfully to
society.
- A detailed workshop report was presented by Dr. M Rajendra
Nath Babu, co-course director, highlighting the selection process and
participation. A total of 30 scholars attended the workshop from various
universities and institutes of national importance.
