DIMAPUR — The National People’s Party (NPP), Nagaland State Unit, has welcomed the appointment of Ajay Kumar Bhalla as the new Governor of Nagaland.
In a press release, the state NPP stated that while this may be a temporary arrangement following the sudden demise of Governor La. Ganesan, the appointment of Bhalla — a former Union Home Secretary with long-standing administrative experience — is viewed as a positive step for the state.
The party noted that Bhalla, hailing from the Meghalaya cadre of IAS officers and presently serving as Governor of Manipur, is well-acquainted with the history, culture, and challenges of the North Eastern region.

His familiarity with the region reflects the recognition of the Centre towards the special needs and aspirations of the North East, it stated.
“As a party born in and rooted to the North East, NPP has always emphasised the importance of experienced and regionally sensitive leadership for addressing the concerns of the people. In this regard, NPP Nagaland is confident that Bhalla’s tenure will strengthen governance and bring balanced attention to the state,” the state NPP stated.
“The NPP Nagaland State Unit extends its best wishes to Bhalla and assures its constructive cooperation in the larger interest of peace, development, and empowerment of the people of Nagaland.”
