Dimapur, Nov. 11 (EMN): The Dimapur District Legal Services Authority during the conduct of National Lok Adalat at the district court, Dimapur on Nov. 11 settled 33 cases. The total settlement amount was Rs. 43,36,616, the release infromed.
The settled cases were said to be mostly on banking matters, public utility matters and Motor Accident Claims Tribunal (MACT), which yielded a significant number of disposal as well as active participation by the banks and public service providers and most importantly amenable appearance by the litigants.
Today’s Lok Adalat in the state was a great success with sincere cooperation and participation from the officials and representatives of the banks, insurance companies and various concern stakeholders, stated the realese.
The Lok Adalat proceedings were carried out led by the presiding judges aided by conciliators, lawyers and also the para legal volunteers. The proceedings were also conducted in local dialects for convenience of the illiterate litigants.
Meanwhile, DDLSA also reminded that Lok Adalat is meant for amicable settlement of cases based on the concept of conciliated settlement of disputes. The system of Lok Adalat is economical and here the justice delivery is quick and effective. The National Lok Adalat is held bimonthly throughout the country and the respective State Legal Services Authoritiesserve as the implementing agency which arestatutory bodies constituted under the Legal Services Authorities Act 1987.
