Dimapur, Aug. 24: The two-day cluster level national integration camp of Kendriya Vidyalaya Sangathans (KVS) started at Kendriya Vidyalaya in Dimapur on Aug. 24.
The chief guest of the opening programme, Chief Engineer Br. DS Rawat, reminded the students of Atal Bihari Vajpayee’s idea of learning. He said that through participation, one would learn and respect the ways and traditions of the country.
The principal of the Kendriya Vidyalaya Dimapur, Umesh Chandra, highlighted the objectives of the programme. He said the camp is part and parcel of KVS education system since its inception.
The programme is conducted for students to get exposure to different culture and tradition; starting from Kashmir to Kanyakumari, and Gujarat to Nagaland, he said. Every year, he maintained that students have the opportunity to explore the Indian heritage through this camp.
Chandra informed that each region of KVS gets a state or a country as their project’s topic in order to make the students learn about different cultures and tradition. Students get the privilege to work in team, develop leadership quality, and learn community participation and patriotism, he added.
Speaking about competition, he said ‘winning or losing is immaterial. It’s the spirit and knowledge that students gain through such opportunities which is vital point.’
The day long programme was mark by solo, group dance, song, debate, elocution, Shloka, creative writing, painting, and project competitions.
Altogether seven schools and 235 students from across the Northeast states are participating in the programme. The camp will conclude on Aug. 25 with more competitions.
